Ubiquiti · UniFi Protect · Local Recording · No Required Cloud Recording Subscription

Security cameras you own. Alerts on your phone. No alarm company.

Edge Secure installs Ubiquiti UniFi Protect cameras that tie directly into your network — indoors, outdoors, or both. Local recording is configured on your hardware. Remote viewing and notifications may use Ubiquiti services. No cloud recording subscription is required for the standard local-recording design; optional services and ongoing support can carry separate fees.

No monitoring contract. You own the system.

UniFi Protect records locally and sends alerts directly to your phone, without a required third-party monitoring subscription. You own the system. Installation and equipment are quoted for your site; ongoing IT support, if requested, is separately scoped. This is not a staffed monitoring or emergency-dispatch service.

No monthly monitoring fees

Local recording does not require a cloud recording subscription. Installation, equipment, optional cloud services, and recurring support fees are separate and depend on the quote and service agreement. This is not an alarm-monitoring or emergency-dispatch service.

Network-integrated from day one

Ubiquiti cameras communicate directly over your existing managed network. If Edge Secure already manages your network infrastructure, the cameras are deployed on a dedicated VLAN with appropriate firewall rules — no separate network bolted on the side.

Real-time notifications on your phone

UniFi Protect sends motion, person, vehicle, and package detection alerts directly to your mobile device. You see what the camera sees in real time — using remote services that may involve Ubiquiti infrastructure and internet connectivity. Detection features depend on the exact model and software.

High-resolution local recording

Footage is recorded locally to a UniFi Network Video Recorder (NVR) or cloud key. You decide how long recordings are retained and who has access — not a vendor.

Scales as you grow

One camera or forty. Ubiquiti's platform handles both. Adding cameras later does not require a service call to a security company — if the network is already managed, the integration is straightforward.

Clean, single-app management

UniFi Protect's mobile and desktop app gives you live view, recording playback, event history, and camera management in one place. No fragmented systems, no vendor-specific DVRs with outdated interfaces.

What's Included

End-to-end installation — hardware through handover

Edge Secure handles the full installation: planning, hardware selection, physical installation, network integration, app setup, and a working walkthrough. You don't touch a cable.

Camera survey and placement planning

We identify optimal camera positions for coverage of entry points, parking areas, interior zones, and blind spots before any hardware is ordered.

Ubiquiti UniFi Protect cameras

Indoor, outdoor, fisheye, or PTZ models selected based on the environment. PoE-powered where cabling permits, or wireless where needed.

NVR or UniFi Cloud Key

Local recording device installed and configured. Storage sized to your retention requirements.

Network integration

Cameras placed on a dedicated VLAN with firewall rules. Integrated with managed network infrastructure where applicable.

UniFi Protect app configuration

Motion zones, person/vehicle/package detection, notification rules, and recording schedules configured before handover.

User accounts and access setup

Business owner and designated staff accounts created with appropriate permission levels within UniFi Protect.

Walkthrough and handover

We walk through the app, show you how to review footage, manage alerts, and adjust notification settings. You leave knowing how to use the system.

Cabling, conduit, and mounting hardware are included in the project quote. Specific camera models are specified after the site survey based on coverage requirements and environment.

Ubiquiti UniFi Camera Line

Cameras specified for the environment

The right model depends on lighting conditions, mounting position, coverage distance, and whether the location is indoor or outdoor. Edge Secure specifies hardware after the site survey.

Installation Process

How the installation works

  1. 01

    Site survey

We visit the location to assess coverage goals, mounting points, existing cabling, power availability, and network infrastructure.

  2. 02

    Hardware specification and quote

Camera models, NVR sizing, cable runs, and any conduit or mounting requirements are specified and quoted as a fixed-price project.

  3. 03

    Network preparation

A dedicated camera VLAN is created on the managed network. Firewall rules isolate camera traffic appropriately. PoE switch ports are verified or added.

  4. 04

    Physical installation

Cameras mounted, cables run, and hardware installed at all agreed locations. NVR installed and connected.

  5. 05

    UniFi Protect configuration

All cameras adopted into UniFi Protect. Motion zones, detection types, recording schedules, and alert rules configured.

  6. 06

    App setup and walkthrough

UniFi Protect app configured on business owner and designated staff devices. Live view, playback, and alert management demonstrated before we leave.

Network integration

Ubiquiti cameras communicate over standard Ethernet (PoE) and are managed through UniFi Protect — which runs on your NVR or Cloud Key. If your business already uses UniFi network hardware, the cameras integrate directly into the same environment.

Camera traffic is placed on a dedicated VLAN, isolated from your primary business network. Segmentation and tested firewall rules reduce lateral-access risk; they do not guarantee isolation. Allowed traffic, device hardening, shared uplink capacity, and configuration still matter.

Remote access to live view and recorded footage is managed through the UniFi Protect app — no port forwarding or exposed camera ports required when using the Ubiquiti network infrastructure approach.

Engagement options

Project-based installation

Quoted and billed as a fixed-price project. No ongoing commitment required after installation.

Add to managed IT agreement

Ongoing software updates, network changes, hardware support, and camera additions can be covered under an existing managed IT agreement.

Bundled with network or IT project

Camera installation can be included in a broader network buildout, office setup, or infrastructure project.

After installation — what you manage

The purpose of a self-managed system is that you are in control. After installation and walkthrough, the following are managed by you through the UniFi Protect app:

Day-to-day camera access and playback
Reviewing and managing motion alert rules
Adding or removing user accounts in UniFi Protect
Expanding storage or replacing the NVR if needed
Physical camera adjustments after handover
Software updates (can be included in managed IT agreement)
Decisions about camera placement changes or additions

Ongoing support — software updates, network changes, camera additions, hardware troubleshooting — can be provided by Edge Secure under a managed IT agreement or as a separate service call.
